Challenge:
Heat exchangers and heaters in contact with water quickly become overgrown with limescale, which significantly reduces their efficiency. At the same time, the deposits can cause problems in most places, for example with membranes, reducing their lifespan. Removing limescale can be a major inconvenience for homes and industry and can also be costly.
Solution:
AMTech has developed a device that attaches to water pipes and, via sound, can change the mineral structure of the lime from calcite to aragonite. This avoids the build-up of deposits on the surface of heat exchangers and pipes. Their solution is already sold to private households, but its potential for industry is huge.
