Challenge:
The Buckingham Canal in India suffers from high levels of pollution. Most of the pollution comes from upstream, where waste and nutrients from rural areas enter the water. This challenge must be addressed to ensure cleaner water for the people along the canal.
Solution:
BACESS A/S has created a nature-based solution that the EU verifies. The Rootzone system can help purify the water by being a natural biological filter with up to 95% purification efficiency. Through the project, BACESS will strengthen its relationship with Tamil Nadu Water Resources Conservation and River Restoration Corporation Ltd. to explore where a pilot area can be selected and set up.
